Translated from Sanskrit, Ayurveda means the wisdom of life or sacred life knowledge.
Ayurveda is a combination of philosophy, spirituality and health teachings; with more than 5000 years of experience, this practice is dedicated to the wellness and health of the human on a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level, acting as guidelines and a source of knowledge.
Ayurveda regards the human as a part of a bigger whole, as an effigy of the cosmos. All elements that make up the cosmos, earth, fire, water, air and ether, are all connected with our senses.
The combination of these elements allows energies to take shape, which act as the life energies in the human, the 'Doshas: Vata, Pitta, Kapha'. The combination of these energies (Doshas) is different in each person and determines the eternal individuality of humanity. When these energies are in balance, we are mentally and physically at an equilibrium, in harmony and in tune with our self, healthy.
When we feel unwell or even severely ill, the aim of Ayurveda is to regain the original balance of these energies.
This is the aim of a retreat at the Meditation and Ayurveda Centre Demetrion. A timeout, in which all levels of the human are simultaneously, energetically balanced, worked and lived.
